Introduction

30 years later, in 2018 May, Mr Chan started, funded and pioneered a more meaningful charitable trip: a navigating car leading three camper vans, together with a caring team, they completed a pioneering activity “One Belt One Road Charitable Art Activity ”. They visited 17 Asian and European countries in 130 days, drove for more than five million kilometers to bring art education to children from the remote area. They connected children from both urban and rural areas by artistic stones. By promoting globally, children of different colors and nationalities were able to interact. Throughout the journey, they broadened worldviews by melody, colors and love, a sustainable charitable event. They started the Sound Color Nurture Scheme by the lightning hope by art, chasing dreams by action, incorporating social powers. 

They have visited 16 countries in 65 days to promote Chinese culture and to facilitate cultural exchanges by music and art. They have brought 2000 paintings drawn by Chinese children to connect themselves with foreign children. Throughout the journey, they have attracted both adults and children, especially those children who have joined the “children painting traveling around the world” event. These children always look forward to making friends with Chinese children through paintings. 

On July 13, the team organized this concert in Vienna with the European Music Master class to provide opportunities for the youth to learn and perform on the stage located in the city of music with European musicians. This is an unforgettable experience. The foundation provided full funds for 10 students and 2 teachers to learn and perform on this international stage and to help them to accomplish their dreams. 

They have visited more than ten thousand children in the mainland’s remote areas by visiting schools, families, giving instruments, painting tools and love to children. They promoted caring and thanksgiving throughout the tour and allowed children to join this scheme. They enriched children’s life through melody and colors and gave them chances to get in touch with the outside world. They even enable children from both the rural and urban areas to interact with child paintings, artistic stones and harmonica. 

After starting the trip successfully, the Sound Color Nurture Scheme has gained more support and recognition in society. The scheme is committed to creating inter-province exchange opportunities for outstanding children and enable them to walk towards the international stage through determination and hard work. Therefore, children may achieve their goals and be supported throughout their growth.

Children’s material life and learning environment will be improved once a country is financially sufficient. But there may still be a lack of adults’ care and chances to develop cultural and artistic skills. Art education has an irreplaceable role for children’s spirits, ways of living and behaviors. Besides, it is also an important component in campus cultural construction. However, children from the remote areas have limited art opportunities due to inconvenient transport and lack of art teachers. 

Music and art is a cross-boundary media, it can act as a bridge of communication between children from different nationalities. Sound Color Nurture Scheme encourages children to learn harmonica, to paint and to engage in stone art in order to build friends. Art consultants from local and overseas will select outstanding artwork and “star of the year”. Selected children can get in touch with the world of music and art, broaden horizons and chase their dreams. 

The Sound Color Nurture Scheme officially started in 2018. In July, 10 students and 2 teachers were granted gull funds to join performances and lessons in Vienna. According to the timeline, more outstanding students and teachers will be chosen as ‘star of the year’ and grant opportunities to exchange in different provinces and countries.

Sound Color Nurture Scheme is an imperative charity event organized by the 1-Art Hong Kong Foundation Charity. This event emphasizes on benefiting more students. Art masters from the foundation will visit participating schools to hold masterclasses for children. The foundation also gathers caring ambassadors to visit participating schools and to interact with children through games and art exchange.

Visual Art Color expands horizons with art

For visual art, children’s paintings encourage participation of more children to express their dreams by brushing. Every painting has the chance to be exchanged with both Chinese and foreign child paintings through the foundation forum to make friends with paintings, to select encouraging and touching stories for appreciation. 

Every child painting has one story, from a piece of drawing paper to stone painting, they all represent children’s improvement. Artistic stones are exhibited in different cities to bring hope to children. The foundation consistently follows up on their development and to select outstanding work to join the 1-Art exhibition and to provide cross-exhibition, province and countries competitions and exchange, as well as the guidance of local and overseas artisans. 

The foundation will provide awards and performance opportunities for students according to their performance. They can even join the ‘star of the year’ competition to get different awards and performance chances.

The art consultants come from different countries. For instance, the stone series have included famous artisans from China, Spain, the UK, Ireland, the USA and Russia. Their artistic stone creations include oil painting, acrylic coloring, ink painting etc. Through the scheme, children can get in touch with global art masters, to learn more skills, broaden horizons and join the 1-Art exhibition.
